IIIM organizes Science Exhibition, Flower Show

JAMMU, Mar 13:Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu organized a Science Exhibition and Flower Show in the Laboratory premises here today.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Varun Sahni, was the Chief Guest.
Prof Sahni went round the various stalls put up in the Science Exhibition depicting the products’ achievements and capabilities of CSIR Institutes.
He also went round the floral exhibits and appreciated the quality of exhibits which have grown manifold over a period of time.
Speaking at a function after going round a flower show in the magnificent lawns of IIIM here this evening, Prof Sahni said that flowers are feast for the eyes and has mesmerizing effect on the human psyche. He also complimented IIIM for organizing the show and undertaking research in various disciplines.
Later, the Chief Guest, distributed trophies and prizes among winners of different events.
In the floral painting competition, held on March 6 among the students in the age groups of 5-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-16 years and above 16 years.
In all, more than 1500 students from different schools of Jammu participated. Col. Sir Ram Nath Chopra Memorial Running trophy was awarded to BSF Senior School, Paloura for being the overall winner of Floral Painting Competition.
Prizes and Trophies were also given to the winners under 8 categories namely Best maintained Gardens & Lawns in and around Jammu by individuals & institutes, Artistic Arrangements of Annuals, Potted Plants, Foliage Plants & Succulents, Cut Flowers, Rose and Artistic Floral Display open to the ladies only.
The Governor's Rolling Trophy for the best performance by an institute in all categories has been won by CO 22 Ammunition Corps and Chandra Wahi Memorial Running
Trophy for overall winner of the show has been secured by Lt. Gen. Jaio Prakash Nehra, 16 Corps, GOC Nagrota.
As many as 127 persons and institutes participated in the competitions. The show attracted more than 1800 entries in different categories. In all, the Chief Guest Prof Varun Sahni distributed 20 trophies and more than 110 prizes in different categories.
