Govt plans covering of nallahs, beatification of canal embankments: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 13:Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that the Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to develop recreational parks with modern facilities besides covering of all nallahs and beautification of embankments of Canals. Minister said this while interacting with the locals during his visit to Shanker Colony near Railway Station, Gujjar Basti opposite Gen. Zorawar Singh auditorium gate, Gangyal Model Town and Rampura here today where he kick started Rs. 36 lakh development works,. To deal with drinking water scarcity, Bhalla said Government has issued directions to PHE department to lay water supply pipes in the uncovered areas across the State, especially the areas which witness scorching heat so that the people do not feel any inconvenience during summer season. The Minister asked the habitual land encroachers to budge adding that the Government has constituted a special squad for vacation of state land from illegal occupants and the help of Police department would also be taken to deal with those who would create problems in the government’s drive. He said henceforth the Government land would be used for building social infrastructure, including construction of offices, tube wells, roads, schools, parks, parking slots, cremation grounds etc. He asked the land grabbers to vacate State land voluntarily, otherwise be ready to face action. At Gangyal Model Town, the Minister inspected ongoing construction works of lanes, drains and upgradation of culvert for which Government has earmarked Rs 50 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete the works by the end of next month for the benefit of general masses.
