Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 13: PDP leadership today alleged that Police in the NC led coalition government had virtually taken over the political establishment and it the former which was calling shots on every front. Party Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayed said the government is thriving on uncertainty and trying to create fear-psychosis that something would happen this summer in Kashmir.
" Youth are being arrested randomly…….innocents are being harassed but all this would yield no result", Mufti said adding that can only arrest a person but it cannot crush their minds and ideas. Mufti said it was ironical that instead announcing itself, the government is now pushing Police officers to make loud announcements that they won't allow anything happen this summer. " Why they are saying it so themselves…….they have no courage to say anything…..They are scaring New Delhi by making such vague statements…….."Mufti said alleging the government is doing all this to get something from the Government of India but the Centre should understand that once it creates congenial atmosphere for dialogue nothing averse will take place."
Reminding the gathering about misdeeds of successive National Conference regimes, Mufti said that people of the state was aware of the "infamous rigged" elections of 1987 and "mis-governance" of NC from 1996 to 2002.
"The present regime has been brazenly following misdeeds of the previous NC regimes", he said and added that NC continued to thrive on uncertainty. Coming down heavily on the government, Mufti further said it had surrendered to RBI by signing MOU as this would result in total dependence on RBI in terms of requirement of funds that was met by J&K Overdraft. " The government must understand well that autonomy means nothing without financial autonomy", he observed.
The former Chief Minister said that PDP leader said that Jammu and Kashmir has suffered huge financial loss due to discriminatory water treaties and the self rule proposes to compensate the State due to these Treaties.
He further demanded that Uri, Salal and Dulhasti hydro electric projects should be handed over the State besides renegotiating agreements with NHPC."If we properly utilize our water resources our income would be more than Rs 50,000 crore", he said.
