| 2,345 SPOs engaged in two years across JK : Govt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 14 : The Jammu and Kashmir government today informed the state Assembly that 2,345 Special Police Officers were engaged in two years in the state.
Replying to a query by MLA Engineer Rashid seeking constituency wise details, total number of SPOs engaged from January 2009 to January 2011 in the state, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also Minister in-charge for Home said, "The engagement of SPOs is made in different districts on operation grounds." The Chief Minister said in two years, 1,120 SPOs were engaged in Jammu zone and 1,225 were engaged in Kashmir. "The district being the administrative unit, all records are maintained with references to the district level only."
