Protest over irregularities in MGNREGA scheme organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, March 14, A day-long dharna was organized at Kalakote in protest against irregularities and bunglings in execution of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme in this constituency and other areas of Rajouri district. Addressing on the occasion, former legislator Ashok Sharma charged that lot of bungling is going in preparation of job cards, execution of works and making payments, as deserved people have been left out on political considerations. He said that while payments for unexecuted works are being made those who have actually executed the works on ground are being left out on one pretext or the other. He demanded a high level inquiry to bring the culprits to book and ensure that the scheme is implemented strictly as per the guidelines fixed for this centrally sponsored scheme. Sharma also demanded scrapping of the newly prepared list of BPL families by charging that again on political considerations the deserving families have been left out of the survey deliberately and affluent people brought under it ambit. He urged for conducting BPL survey a fresh so that all the deserving families get benefited from this scheme. Senior Vice President, State Youth Congress, R.S Pathania stressed for planned implementation of MGNREGA and enhancing the wage rate to Rs 200 daily under this scheme. A large number of people of Kalakote constituency participated in the protest which among others was also addressed by M.Y. Mugal, President BCC Kalakote, Som Raj Khajuria Ex -Sarpench, Rattan Paul Ex -Sarpench, Hans Raj Ex -Sarpench, Noor Hussain Ex -Sarpench, Ram Parkash, Mohd Fareed, Nirmal Singh, Mukhtar Hussain and Darbari Lal.
