Parveen Kumar awarded for exceptional performance in Spl Olympics | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Mar 14: First time in the history of J&K, an Intellectually Disabled Athlete of Special Olympics Bharat Parveen Kumar was awarded for exceptional performance in Special Olympics with citation and certificate of appreciation. He was awarded with cash award of Rs 25,000 of flag-in-ceremony of "Badhte Kadam, " an awareness campaign on United Nation Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities "UNCRPD" which reiterates the right to sports and recreation for persons with disabilities by National Trust of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India in collaboration with Special Olympics Bharat. On behalf of the National Trust and Special Olympics, Bharat, New Delhi, a special function was organised in the honour of awardee athlete by Special Olympics Bharat - J&K in which the award and demand draft was awarded by Minister for Youth Services and Sports RS. Chib accompanied by Dr. Ashvini Jojra - State President, Er. Mahesh Kinth - Area Director, Narinder Singh - State Family President & Kh. Farooq Ahmad Renzu - Advisor in Chief of SOB - J & K & Director General Information J&K, Wing Comdr (Retd) M.M. Joshi Advisor and Ajay Kumar Prinicipal Sainik School, Nagrota. Speaking on the occasion, the Sports Minister lauded the role of Special Olympics Bharat - J&K Chapter for bringing such Special Athlete to the fore front and conveyed heartiest gratitude to the National Chairman of SOB Air Marshall (Retd.) Denzin Keelor for blessing the state chapter and S Ali Kazim National Director for special support to state of J&K and Victor Vaz- National Sports Director ( Hon.) and MLJKta Narain Third National Co-ordinator SOB for extending technical & administrative guidance respectively. Mrs. Poonam Natrajan - Chairperson of the National Trust deserves all commendation for the rehabilitation of the Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual & Multiple Disabilities, the sports minister said. Addressing the State President, SOB, Dr Ashvinl Jojra said the day is not far when these special athletes of SOB-J&K will participate at National and International level and will bring laurels to the state and country to fulfill the dreams of founder of Special Olympics International Eunice Shilver Kennedy. This award by National Trust & SOB will be a great motivation to the other special athletes, their paellas & guardians of the J&K state and this credit goes to the National Chairman SOB Air Marshall (Retd) Denzin Kelor, National Director S Ali Kazlm who are the constant source of inSpiration for us, Dr Jojra said The Area Director of SOB-J&K Er. Mahesh Kinth expressed sincere thanks to the Chairperson of the National Trust and the National Chairman of Special Olympics Bharat and whole tedm of National Trust & SOB to select an athlete from J & K State for the award and this award is encouragement and inspiration for Athletes of SOB - J & K and certainly they will perform well in the future events The Executives of SOB - J & K Anil Gupta - Treasurer, H. The parents of special athletes Parveen Kumar who are the labourers and the natives of Indo-Pak Border are delighted and emotional in the award presentation ceremony when they were witnessing their Special child honoured.
