Van Mahotsav was celebrated at the Udhampur Military Station under the aegis of Army Wives Association (AWWA) Northern Command. Over a period of three weeks, about 11500 saplings of fruit and ornamental trees were planted by the Officers, JCOs, Other Ranks and their families in the unit areas and married accommodation complexes in the station.
A part of the Van Mahotsav, an exclusive orchard named ‘UPVAN’ was developed. In a special event organised today Lt Gen Deepak Kapoor, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC-in-C Northern Command and Mrs Kirti Kapoor, President AWWA Northern Command planted fruit saplings and dedicated the UPVAN complex to the families of Jadu Nath Enclave. Other senor Army officers, JCOs, OR and their families also participated in the community plantation.
