Poising dogs will disturb ecological balance, warn environmentalists | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 14: With increase in number of dog bite cases in Valley and subsequent demands by the people to poison dogs, experts have warned any such move could disturb the ecological balance. Javeed Iqbal, an environment activist has said that experts should be involved to deal the problem as poising dogs would disturb the ecological balance. “I will file a petition against Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation in Supreme Court who recently ordered poising of dogs. It will disturb ecological balance.” “Killing of dogs has become a new way for corruption for the officers. I’ve filed a complaint against Municipal Commissioner with Vigilance Organization where I have urged the VO to probe the Rs one crore spending last year by the SMC on dog killings,” he alleged. Iqbal said that sterilization was the only way out to deal with dog menace. “Government’s idea to hire the services of ‘pied piper’ is ridiculous. He (pied piper) is demanding whopping Rs 20 crore for his service. I’m not able to understand where he will take the dogs,” he added.
