| RKVY awareness camp at Poonch | | | Early Times Report
POONCH, Mar 14: A district level awareness camp under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) a centrally sponsored scheme was organized by Sheep Husbandry Department Poonch here today.
Expert lectures regarding upkeep and rearing of sheep and goat on modern lines were delivered by expert doctors with view to adopt sheep rearing as a profession for income generation. Joint Director Extension, Dr Gupta, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr R C Sharma, expert doctors and more than 200 sheep breeder attended the camp.
Scheme envisages providing of 25 sheep free of cost to sheep rearers and to unemployed educated youths on priority, so that they setup their income generating units under this sector. It was stated that department purchased quality 65 rams costing Rs.3.25 lakh for distribution among sheep breeders free of cost for encouraging improved cross bread sheep race.
