Workshop on emerging trends in food technology held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 15 A one-day workshop on “emerging trends in food technology” was organized by Department of Food Science and Technology, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Various resource persons delivered their paper on the emerging trends in Food Technology. First inaugural session was inaugurated by Principal, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Prof. Nalini Kohli. Dr Om Parkash Sharma, Agri Officer, Directorate of Agriculture presented a paper on, ‘Organic farming for Healthy Foods’. He laid the emphasis on the use of organic farming and said that it is the need of the hour. In the second session, Dr. Raj Kumar, Agriculture Officer, Directorate of Agriculture delivered lecture on organic herbal foods. Other eminent resource persons were Dr. M.S.Nargal, Project Officer Indian Society of Agriculture Business, Shafika, Horticulture Development Officer Food & Craft Institute. There was also a practical demonstration in the project Lab. of Department of Food Science & Technology. Faculty members and scholars from SKAUST University also attended the workshop. There was also an exhibition of the various projects such as pickles, jam, sauces, chutni, syrups, ready to eat products etc by the department of food science. Later, vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Anuradha Gandotra, HOD Food Science & Technology. |
