| Sunny Baba, jail police cop among 3 held along with 2 pistols | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, March 15 : Sumit Choudhary alias Sunny Baba, who was alleged to have taken supari from Nagar Choudhary for killing witnesses in Amandeep murder case, was Monday night arrested by police near Jhajjar Kotli, about 30 km from here on the Jammu-Udhampur road. His alleged accomplices -- jail police cop Surinder alias Chotu and Sunil Kumar alias Pinki, sons of Ram Lal of Ustad Mohalla -- were picked up by police this morning from their residence. Pinki runs a sports goods shop in front of the Kachi Chawni police station.Sunny was on way to the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi when acting on a tip-off, a police team last night intercepted his I-10 car near Jhajjar Kotli and arrested him.
He was soon whisked away to a city police station, according to police sources.
During his sustained interrogation, police came to know that Chotu and Pinki were his alleged associates. Cops then raided their Ustad Mohalla residence and arrested them.
Two pistols were recovered by police from sports godown of Pinki, the sources added.
Sunny was said to be in Marble Market area on November 21 when police had an encounter with his alleged associates -- Rakesh Giri of R S Pura and Yudhvir Singh alias Bablu of Ahrachak.
While Giri was killed, Babu was injured in the shootout. Sunny was absconding since then.
He was also alleged to be involved in an incident of firing on a police party at Manda here.
The arrested police cop was also alleged to be part of the Sunny gang.
Sources said he allegedly passed messages of the jailed Nago and his associates to their supporters outside the jail. Their sustained interrogation was in progress. They had been shifted to Miran Sahib police station. Sunny is son of Baba Jat, who was shot dead by Pappi gang shooters at Satwari over a decade back. Jat was also allegedly involved in several murder and attempt to murder cases. |
