Funds unutilized, says Harsh,allegation baseless: CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 15: Harsh Dev Singh of BJP today hit out at coalition government in the state for what he alleged the funds having been unutilized in most of the Centrally sponsored schemes. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah however dismissed the allegation as baseless and said there was slow pace on some works, unrest in Kashmir valley being the main reason. During the question hour today, Harsh Dev Singh pointed out that government had not spent the amount it got under PM's package which he allged reflected inefficiency and non performance. Harsh also questioned why action was not taken against the non performing officers. Chief Minister intervened and asserted that the allegation of funds not being utilized was totally wrong. "There has been slow pace on some works which is affecting timely completion target…..but we are trying the expedite the works. Omar said maintaining that government is laying thrust on meaningful works on the ground instead of spending the funds blindly and randomly. On expenditure of funds on sewerage and drainage for Greater Jammu and Srinagar cities, the Chief Minister said that Rs. 1470 crore project for Jammu and Rs. 1741 crore project for Srinagar have been shifted from PMRP to JNNURM and work on both the projects is going on apace. The Chief Minister said that State Government would take up the issue of extension of PMRP projects under State sector with the Union Government if need arises and for the projects under the Central sector the Union Government would take decision itself. He said work on PMRP projects is going on and "we are for accelerating the pace wherever required". "While I am for faster completion of works, the judicious spending inconsonance with the required formalities, is the Government's focused area", he said adding that quality of works has to be ensured under all circumstances. |
