Additionality row: PDP lashes out at NC for 'discrimination' in funds | Unrest may erupt in Jammu too, warns Mehbooba | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 15: PDP raised the issue of additionalties vehemently in the state Assembly and alleged ruling NC was indulging in misuse and misappropriation of funds by concentrating and diverting the flow in their own constituencies and among defeated candidates of the party.Leader of the Opposition warned outside the House that if such gross discrimination in distribution of funds continued, 'trouble' will erupt not only in Kashmir but also people of Jammu would be forced to come to roads. "When people of Kashmir protest against discrimination on such fronts, government label them as militants . What will government do when people of Jammu will come on roads? Will they also label them as LeT agents," Mehbooba questioned on a warning note while speaking to media after staging walkout from the House. Warning that unrest could spread to Jammu also if discrimination continues, Mehbooba remarked "Kashmir has already been ruined…..the way government is utilizing the funds in own areas alone, it seems they are bent upon creating trouble and unrest in Jammu as well". The PDP president while raising the issue inside the House first pointed fingers towards the Planning Department in allocation of additional funds said that there were discrepancies in Economic Survey Report and figures being provided by the government in the House. While Mehbooba raised these issues, the Chief Minister rushed outside the House , a gesture which infuriated PDP chief .She also took strong notice of the fact CM being in charge of Planning Department instead of remaining in the House chose to move out. "CM belongs to all regions and all parties, but unfortunately present CM's attitude is discriminatory as he is spending additionalties through defeated MLAs of his party. It is injustice with people, It has always been NC' policy to have double standards. Son (Omar) talks in one tone and father (Dr Farooq Abdullah) in other," she added while speaking to media later. She alleged that recent on-spot recruitment drive in Khanyar constituency was 'fixed. "We'll go to peoples' court soon," she announced. Earlier, raising the issue during Question Hour, senior PDP leader and former deputy Chief Minister, Muzaffar Hussain Baig asked the government to provide the constituency wise details of demands and provisions of additional funds above the regular annual plan in R&B, PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control and Rural Development. Baig also alleged that government (Ali Mohammad Sagar) had agreed in the House himself it was no sin if some funds were given to defeated candidates. Howevr, this promted Sagar to intervene immediately who said he was being misquoted. The Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar in a written answer on behalf of Planning Minister said that additionalties were not released constituency wise as the constituency is not the unit of Planning. However, PDP members weren't satisfied with Sagar's reply and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti wanted the Chief Minister to speak over the issue. "The information provided before the House is wrong and misleading. Schools and health centers have been upgraded in two particular constituencies only," she alleged. Speaker refused discussion on the issue, infuriated PDP members staged a walkout from the House. |
