Sociology wins in inter-department cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 16: Department of Sociology registered a nine-run win over Department of Hindi in cricket tournament, which is part of the ongoing annual inter-department sports meet of University of Jammu (JU) on the campus, here today. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Sociology set a target of 128 runs for the loss of nine wickets in stipulated 20 overs, which, in reply, Hindi could not chase and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 118 runs losing eight wickets. Tousif was top scorer with 37 runs while Aman Bali and Kaleeq Qazi contributed 16 and 13 runs respectively. From Hindi Department, Jagmohan was most successful bowler with four wickets while Sanil Kumar bagged two. Later, Hindi Department could not attain the goal and make only 118 runs in allotted 20 overs with two wickets in hand. Vicky Rattan was highest scorer with 25-ball 35 runs, followed by Ram Murti, who contributed 21 runs. Azhar and Aman Bali claimed two wickets each while Mehraz and Tousif shared apiece each. Meanwhile, in another scheduled match, Department of Commerce got walkover Department of Library Sciences. Today’s match was officiated by Rajeev Sharma and Vinay Dogra as umpires while Satpal was scorer.
