SDM sensitizes public about consumer rights

Gandhtop (Dudu Basantgarh) March 16 : – An awareness camp for dissemination of basic information was organised in Gandhtop area of Dudu Basantgarh Sub Division yesterday by ICDS Dudu Basantgarh in which Sub Divisional Magistrate Amit Sharma in his motivational address mentioned about the rights of consumers on National Consumers Day.
Although the camp was organized in this far flung area to create awareness about the multi faceted role of Angadwadi workers and helpers in the present times but the opportunity was seized by SDM Dudu Basantgarh Amit Sharma to sentisize about their consumer rights such as safety, information, choice, representation, redress and consumer education amongst the huge gamut of public belonging to different areas such as Chakal, Rasau, Hartal, Pachound, Upper Balota, Chatriari, Majouri, Sia Meri, Rali Gadherien, Shivgali, Basantgarh and Mang, apart from motivating these basic village level workers to play pivotal role in educating and assisting young buds, adolescent girls and pregnant ladies of their respective mohras and villages.
SDM Amit Sharma, in his interactive address, talked about fundamental services such as provision of supplementary nutrition, immunisation, pre-school education, health check up, nutrition and health education and referral services which was basic role of Angadwadi Centres. He also noted down their grievances and immediately directed CDPO to take corrective measures and draw a schedule to visit all centres in next three months so that proper welfare measures can be taken to improve the functioning of various centres spread across hills of Dudu Basantgarh. He mentioned that alongwith Angadwadi workers and helpers, basic revenue functionaries i.e., Numberdars and Chowkidars of all villages should also act as agents of change in these areas and help the villages to become aware about the role as consumers and they should get duped by shopkeepers or service providers.
Sharma also emphasized on the integrated role of Numberdars and Chowkidars to work in complete coordination with Angadwadi workers and Angadwadi helpers to create vibrant atmosphere in the Sub Division.
Finally, SDM Amit Sharma asked the public to gear up for the upcoming Panchayat Elections to be held on April 21 in Dudu Basantgarh Sub Division and exercise their voting rights so as to elect the upright candidates as their panchs and sarpanches who can work towards their causes in future.
Many Angadwadi workers also shared their thoughts in the camp such as Sushma Devi, Lata Kumari, Seema Gupta and others who mentioned about the methods adopted by them to run thier Centres successfully with fellow workers.
Other persons who spoke on the occasion were Prem Prabha, CDPO Dudu Basantgarh who stressed upon the filling up of vacant posts and provision of vehicle to travel in hilly terrains, Dr Pawan Kumar of PHC Basantgarh who mentioned about the importance of Health and Hygiene, Balwant Singh Ex-Sarpanch and Numberdar Sher Singh. The main organizers of the programme were Yash Pal, Supervisor and Chuni Lal, Assistant of ICDS Office Dudu Basantgarh.
