JMC’s anti-encroachment drive continues

Jammu , March 16: Intensifying the anti-encroachment drive in various areas, the Jammu Municipal Commissioner S.C. Sawhney Commissioner directed the enforcement staff led by Chief Enforcement Officer Satish Khajuria along with police to clear the footpaths / pavements.
The team visited the areas of Bikram Chowk, Nai Basti, Shastri Nagar & Gandhi Nagar. During the drive, the team demolished two walls and five tandoors where were raised by encroaching upon footpaths and pavements. They also removed the hoardings from roof tops which were erected for advertisement purposes unauthorizedly.
Later, the team seized two truck loads of goods or articles which were placed by the shopkeepers / vendors by encroaching upon footpaths / pavements and part of road sides in these areas.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation, meanwhile, appealed the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their shops/establishments to avoid seizure of these goods and penalty for such defaults.
