| Farooq declares ‘GKR Memorial Cricket Tournament’ open | | |

Former Chief Minister and NC Patron, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who was the Chief Guest on the inaugural ceremony, formally declared the “GKR Memorial 20-20 Open Cricket Tournament” open with ball in his hands at GGM College Cricket Ground here this afternoon. Farooq, who is also the President of Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), also delivered few deliveries to feel the joy of cricket.
Speaking on the occasion, Farooq appreciated the management of Kawa Institute for introducing the concept of 20-20 cricket and wished good wishes to all the participating teams. Kawa Institute of Management and Technology is conducting this tournament as a tribute to three students namely Gourav, Kartik Subramanium and Rohit who lost their lives in a tragic road accident. Since then from 2002 onwards, Institute have been organizing this tournament to commemorate the memories of departed soul.
The whole tournament is organized by Roshni Cricket Academy whereas Shree Toyota is the diamond sponsor of the tournament.
