Khalsa Club wins district hockey title | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 16: Khalsa Club clinched Jammu District Hockey Championship outplaying Singh Club 6-4 in tie-breaker in the final played today at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today. Earlier, in the stipulated time, the final ended in a 2-2 draw. Though Singh Club took first lead with Tajinder Singh sounding the board in the fifth minute, still Khalsa Club went a head scoring two goals through Parminder Singh in the 10th and 29th minute. Leading by a goal in the first half, Khalsa Club could not maintain the upper hand and found Singh Club equalizing the score on board 2-2 in the 45th minute through Motinder Pal Singh. Later, in tie-breaker, Khalsa Club emerged 6-4 winner. Amandeep singh, Ranveet Singh, Parvinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh were successful penality shooters from winners Khalsa Club while Harvinder Pal Singh and Gurjeet Singh could only net the ball from Singh Club. H Singh and Indpal Singh missed the target. The final was officiated by Harmanan Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Jagjeet Singh, Jasbir Singh and PD Singh. In the final and prize distribution function, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau was chief guest who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Prominent among others present were PP Singh, Gurmeet Kour, Veena Chib, Manjeet Singh, Dr Brij Biloria, Ramesh Chander Sharma, Janak Singh and Joginder Singh.
