J&K, Delhi, Punjab men in semis of NZ Handball | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 16: With just one group match remaining, hosts Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Punjab today made it to the knock-out stages of semi-finals in men’s section in the ongoing 16th North Zone Handball Championships at Mini Stadium, Parade, here. While J&K topped in group-A winning both of their league matches, Delhi remained second. From group-B, Punjab has qualified for the knock-out stages while second team shall be decided in tomorrow’s league tie to be played between defending champion, Haryana and Chandigarh. In the meantime, J&K women have little hope of making it to first three positions in the four team competition after the side lost both their league outings today. The winner in women’s section shall be decided on the basis of points earned in the league round. Title holder, Haryana and Delhi have won two matches each while Punjab has won one game against J&K. Meanwhile, as per the organizers, J&K Handball Association, the men’s final shall be played at 3.30 pm, followed by the prize distribution function.
