EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, March 16: Expansion of ATM and branch network in J&K state is to carry forward the mission of J&K Bank chairman, Mushtaq Ahmad, to extend globally benchmarked services and products of the bank across the state and to meet the financial needs of the people at the grass-root level. The aim is also to ensure equitable and inclusive development of state. This also forms a significant part of the bank’s financial inclusion programme.
This was stated by Parvez Ahmad, President and Secretary, J&K Bank, while addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the bank’s ATM at Ashmuqam here today.
Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, inaugurated the ATM in presence of the J&K Bank President & Secretary, Parvez Ahmad, Zonal Head (South Kashmir), Mohammad Afzal Khan, Cluster Head Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Rather and Branch Head Zahoor Ahmad. Senior citizens of the area were also present among large gathering on the occasion.
DDC Rizvi outlined mutual good behavior as the basic foundation of strong banker-customer relationship.
Hailing the role of the bank, he said, “J&K Bank is the backbone of the State’s development and progress. At times, J&K Bank alone bailed state government out of financial crisis.”
Moreover, Parvez Ahmad said, “In the last 6 months, we have installed almost 50 ATMs across the state and efforts are on to raise the strength of our ATM network to 500 in the next 12 months or so. Currently we have over 350 ATMs operating across the country.”
Parvez further stated that the bank management will work in close coordination with government authorities and people to bring positive changes in socio-economic set-up of the state.
The president advised the Cluster Head and the Branch Head would be conducting awareness camps in the area to apprise the people about various deposit as well as loan schemes suitable in the context of local economic needs.
Zonal Head (South Kashmir) communicated Chairman’s commitment to expand ATM network in all the three regions of the state.
Cluster Head presented the vote of thanks.
