| CB registers case against accused for grabbing govt land near Golf Course | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 17: The crime branch has registered a case against the accused who were alleged to have encroached upon 300 kanals of land near Sidhra golf course here and sold it to different people.The encroached land, located close to the Sidhra golf course on the Tawi river bank, belongs to JDA and departments of revenue and custodian. According to CB sources, the land, which was converted into plots, was allegedly sold by Choudhary Nazir Ahmed and Choudhary Hakimul Din in connivance with the officials of JDA, revenue and custodian to government officers and other influential persons at the rate of Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000 per kanal. During CB investigation, local patwari, custodian Inspector and khilafwarzi officer were allegedly found hand-in-glove with the alleged land grabbers. Sources said the officials had changed the revenue record to wrongly get the encroachers' possession entered in books.170 kanals of land had been sold by Hakimul at the rate of Rs 1 lakh per kanal and he was still in possession of 40 kanals of land, the sources added. Some of those, who had purchased plots, had even started raising constructions in connivance with the officials concerned.The CB has registered a case in this connection under sections 420, 447-A, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of RPC read with section 5(2) of prevention of corruption Act.
