Kargil continues to shiver at -10 degrees | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Mar 17 : Kargil, a border town in Ladakh region was the coldest with the minimum temperature at minus 10.2 degrees Celsius while there is a major improvement in night temperatures in the Kashmir Valley.
The day was a bit cold today with cloudy weather after the sunshine for past two days. A Met department spokesman said light rain or snow could occur at few places in the Jammu and Kashmir with gusty winds likely in the plains of Jammu division. Border town on Srinagar-Leh National Highway Kargil was the coldest in the region after the minimum was recorded at minus 10.2 degrees today. In the upper reaches, the minimum was between minus 12 degrees to minus 18 degrees in the region, which remained cut off from the rest of the state due to closure of the Zojila pass, where more than 10 feet of snow had accumulated.He said there was considerable improvement in Leh where the minimum temperature was 0.4 degrees. The spokesman said in the summer capital, Srinagar, sky would remain generally cloudy with a possibility of light rain or thundershowers. He said the minimum temperature recorded in Srinagar was 7.1 degrees, three degrees above normal.Elsewhere in the Valley the weather has improved.
