| Army jawan dies; youth sustains blast injuries | | |

An Army jawan was killed at Salori Post in Mendhar , a 9- year boy sustained blast injuries while security forces recovered a cache in forest area of Doba.
According to reports the jawan sustained injuries when a bullet fired from across the border hit him at Salori Post in Poonch district. The jawan later succumbed to his injuries. Identified as Gurpreet Singh of 10 SIKHLI his body was later handed over to his family members.
A Defence spokesman said that 9 year old Shaukat Alison of Mohammed Ali resident of village Pukharni inadvertently entered a marked mine field and sustained anti-personal mine blast splinter injuries. He was immediately evacuated to civil Hospital Nowsherea for treatment.
In the meantime based on input of JKP, a joint column with the local police launched a search operation in Doba forest and recovered a cache wrapped in polythene hidden under a boulder.
The recoveries included two Chinese Pistols along with three magazines, 120 rounds of AK ammunition, 14 UBGL grenades, 12 Chinese hand grenades and six RPG rockets.
