Joint management of GB Pant hospital | Sham takes up issue with Defence ministeR | | EARLY TIMES REPORT NEW DELHI, March 17- Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma today called on the Union Minister of State for Defence, V.Pallam Raju here and discussed the issue of upgradation of G.B. Pant hospital, Jammu and its joint management so that the people can take benefits of this premier institution. Sharma expressed desire of the State Government to share joint management of the G.B. Pant hospital with the Cantonment Authorities to explore full potential of the institution. He said that functioning of the institution can be further improved by providing adequate staff and strengthening the existing infrastructure. He said that state government has already provided some doctors and paramedical staff to the hospital, but due to lack of facilities their services are not being utilized properly. Presently the hospital is of the level of Primary Health Centre and government wants to upgrade it upto the level of Sub-District Hospital, he added. Appreciating the gesture of the State Government, Pallam Raju directed the concerned authorities to devise modalities for sharing the joint management of the hospital within a period of 15 days for its examination by the State government. Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Dr. R.K. Jerath, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma and senior officers of Cantonment Board were also present in the meeting.
