J&K for fast tracking work on Jammu Airport up-gradation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 17: Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal today impressed upon the concerned agencies to resolve the impediments coming in the way of starting the project of expansion of Jammu Airport. Chairing a high level meeting to take stock of the expansion of the Jammu Airport here today, the Chief Secretary emphasized that the expansion of the Jammu Airport is of utmost importance not only from the safety point of view but from the economic aspect as well. This, he said, will boost the economy of the State. He said that a holistic approach should be adopted to go about the project. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was directed to hand over all the relevant documents to the State Civil Aviation Department so that matter is taken up with Ministry of Defence for early handing over of the identified land for Airport expansion. Secretary Animal Husbandry Department was directed to identify land for shifting their offices from Belicharana on priority so that work on prioritized expansion of the Jammu Airport could be taken. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister on his recent visit to Jammu had announced Rs. 70 crore assistance for up-gradation of Jammu airport. Meeting, among others, was attended by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B.B. Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner-Secretary, Forests, Shantmanu, Secretary, Revenue, Ejaz Iqbal, Director Civil Aviation, Wing. Cmdr Katoch, Director, Airports Authority of India, Suresh Kumar, Defence Estates Officer, Vivek Kumar, GOC 26 Div., Brig. Pankaj Saxena and other officers.
