| Sixth annual painting competition held to mark diabetes day | | |

On the eve of World Diabetes Day, 6th annual on the spot painting cum poster competition was organised by Janata Diabetes Care centre and JKFAS here today to mark the birth day of discoverer of insulin, Dr. Fedddrick Banting. In this competition 12 schools of Jammu participated with more than one hundred students.
The competition was held on the concepts like Know your disease and live longer, Fast food kills fast, Optimum Calories, Lesser the Diabetes and Insulin a friend in need, put forward by Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma.
Meanwhile Dr. Sharma also briefed the students about the various symptoms of the Diabetes and precautionary measures that can help in management of diabetes and prevent long term complications.
The students in their unique way painted the slogans, however the competition was held under two groups. In the first group Shiva Nagri of KC Public School bagged the first prize where as Shakshi Raina and Sakshi Sharma from Cooperative Public School and SD Tarapuri School received second and third Prizes respectively. Also Roshini Lochan and Akshit Sharma were felicitated with consolation prizes.
Whereas in the second group Surinder Jamwal from DBN School – Amar Villa garnered first prize besides Vanessa Jenny Danish and Surabh Chalotra from St. Zaviers Convent School and KC Public School bagged second and third prizes respectively.
Apart from, this Ankush from KC Public School and Ishan Fotedar from DBN School got consolation prizes respectively.
The vote of thanks was given by Suresh Sharma, secretary JAKFAS; he applauded the enthusiasm displayed by the students and their respective school. He also assured that JAKFAS will continue with its efforts to impart education to the student community through such creative arts.
