J&K private schools throw norms to wind | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 17: To improve quality of education, state government introduced SRO-123 in 2010, particularly to put curbs on the educational institutions charging fee at will. But still many private education institutes are not following the regulation and norms made by the state government. They are running the institutions according to their own rules. Most of the school are not recognized and do not have affiliation with Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE). In the recent statement given by Minister for School Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, he had claimed that SRO -123 of 2010 is to be strictly implemented to end the highhandedness of private schools in the state particularly in raising fee transport and admission charges. According to the report in the state, there are about 1597 primary schools, 1925 middle schools, 964 high schools and 272 higher secondary schools are functioning in different categories. Minister had said that every dimension is being checked by the inspection teams while giving clearance for registration. He had said to incorporate suggestions of parents and respectable citizens, directions had been passed to managing committees of private schools to convene a meeting in every three months during the academic calendar year. Sonia Choudhary, a student of 10th standard said that many private recognized and unrecognized schools are running in the state and looting the students.
