Everything is fair in politics. | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 17: It is said that everything is fear in love and war but everything is fair in Indian politics as well. The actions of politicians right or wrong have always a justification in this largest democracy of world and no one can challenge the same. It is truly said that nothing is permanent in the Indian politics where politicians shift loyalties within no time. A political leader who does not like to share dais with his rival groups and publicly criticises their policies and programmes for years together does not lose a moment in shifting the loyalty in case he is promised a good ministerial berth or any other prize post by ruling party or coalition. He never thinks about the principles of his party or principles cherished by him for years together. It will not be an exaggeration to say that governments were seated out of power by the disgruntled politicians at a number of occasions in India just for their vested interests. The J&K which is a part and parcel of India so such wrong practices of politicians is not anything new here. Not going to past but having a cursory look on last 20 years period of turmoil in the state which saw the formation of political government after a gap of 7 years in 1996 again became a prey to the disgruntled politicians in the state. The national conference which ruled state since 1996 to 2002 under the leadership of Dr.Farooq Abdullah lost the assembly poll in 2002 that resulted in the formation of PDP-Congress coalition government led by Mufti Mohammed Syed. This coalition as per the agreement was to be led by PDP for first three years which was followed by Congress for rest three years. The coalition people in the state worked smoothly during the first three years of of Mufti’s rule despite many inner contradictions and conflicts. Later Mr.Azad’s first two years as chief Minister also were termed a good period by the people in the state till the unfortunate amaranth land row issue gripped the state forcing Mr.Azad to quit some months in advance. Later in the elections of 2008 another combination emerged and congress party which had joined Mr. Mufti’s PDP in previous coalition did not take even a minute in joining hands with Dr Farooq Abdullah’s NC and installing Omar Abdullah as chief minister of the state. The people who view such a political opportunism very seriously feel totally fed up with the disgruntled a selfish politicians. According to Mohd. Sidiq a social activist of Qamarwari how can people trust these parties in future as they have lost total credibility. The Congress which opposed NC’s previous policies on the floor of assembly during PDP-Congress coalition from 2002-2008 as its ministers on the floor of the house have demanded probe against entire NC rule where the NC men opposed the same demanding probe in all Govts. which were led by congress, also this minister said that congress ruled the state over 30 years back and hence it will not be possible to probe that period while NC had ruled in very past and govt. should initiate a probe during its period. But the same minister was on record to make a political jugglery in the house by ascribing the period of development in the state to Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah instead by Bakshi Ghulam Mohammed the architect of Modern Kashmir.
