Rajouri,March 18: In some areas of border district Rajouri , the motor able roads are not being constructed with the aim to provide maximum connectivity to the people of far flung areas, but only to pave the way for handsome compensations to some favorites whose land falls in the construction
alignment . The hand some amount being paid by PMGSY and PWD departments for the land coming under the construction of roads has lured many to offer their lands for the construction of the road . The interest of the people for compensation has given an other chance to
the roads constructing agencies to get the money from the party they favor while conducting the survey of the road . The latest example is an eight km road being constructed by PWD Rajouri from Sora to Kaller village in Thana Mandi block .
Alleging large scale corruption by the survey authorities of PWD Rajouri in connection with the construction of 8 Kms Road from “ SORA TO KALLER” in Thana Mandi block , The residents of village Kaller stag aged a dharna in front of PWD office Rajouri and raised anti government slogans . Mehmood Ahmed , resident of the village Kaller told Early Times that the authorities of PWD Rajouri have conducted the survey of the said road from the area where already a road exists
. He said this has been done by the authorities with an aim to pave the way for the compensation to those from whom the authorities have charged an amount as bribe . “ The survey authorities have completely deviated from the village for which the road was sanctioned and the
total eight km length was being finished with in an particular area to utilize maximum land for the compensation . This is also fact that a well maintained road already exists there”, said Mehmood . He was also echoed by an other resident Dawood Ahmed threatening that they (villagers) will not allow any body to construct this road till an investigation is not done in this regard that how and why an other road was being constructed in the area where already a road exists . Sources said , the work has been stopped by the villagers and machinery sent back . Despite efforts no official of the department liked to comment on the issue .
This is not the alone story , sources said , large number of roads constructed by PMGSY department Rajouri were surveyed by the authorities with an intention to favor those who paid them in advance
for the sake of compensation . And most of the roads have been constructed by the department ignoring the utility potential of the project . Not only this, the set norms have also been thrown to winds while sanctioning contracts of the said roads to the blue eyed boys of the department and people sitting at high chairs
