| Akhnoor girls excel in inter-block competitions | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, March 18: Girls from Akhnoor block made a clean sweep winning all the three events of kabaddi, kho-kho and volleyball in the inter-block competitions of Jammu district, organised under Centrally sponsored scheme of PYKKA by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Government Higher Secondary School Domana, near here today.
Whereas in boys’ section, Marh block made their presence felt winning kho-kho and kabaddi titles. The volleyball title went to Bishnah block. In individual event of wrestling, against Marh and Bishnah blocks dominated.
Meanwhile, in boys’ football competitions, being held at GGM Science College ground, here, Bhalwal block defeated RS Pura block by five goals to nil. Devgan Kerni and Vishal Sharma scored two goals each while Pankaj Dogra added one.
In the finals and prize distribution function of the competitions, Sarpanch Kalyanpur Panchyat, Ashok Kumar Mahajan was chief guest, who gave away prizes to the winners and runners-up teams and other individuals.
Speaking to the participating teams, the chief guest announced a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to the participants as a token of encouragement.

GIRLS: Kabaddi: Akhnoor block beat RS Pura block 14-11. Kho-Kho: Akhnoor block beat Bhalwal block 17-04. Volleyball: Akhnoor block beat Bhalwal block 2-0.
BOYS: Kho-Kho: Marh block beat Bhalwal block 6-0. Kabaddi: March block beat Akhnoor block by 10 pts. Volleyball: Bishnah block beat Khour block 2-0.
WRESTLING (Boys): 40 kg: Rajinder Kumar (Marh), Ist; Sanjay Kumar (Bhalwal), 2nd. 45 kg: Swant Singh (Dansal), Ist; Rakesh Sharma (Bhalwal), 2nd and Pushpinder Singh (Mar), 3rd. 50 kg: Gagandeep Sharma (Akhnoor), Ist; Talag Ali (Marh), 2nd and Dev Raj (Bishnah), 3rd. 55 kg: Mohd Manshu (Marh), Ist; Aniyat Ali (Dansal), 2nd and Sham Lal Bhalwal (3rd). 60 kg: Bahadur Khan (Bhalwal), Ist; Mohd Rafee (Marh), 2nd. Above 60 kg: Suraj Parkash (Marh), Ist.
