Wikileaks exposes dual face of Hurriyat leaders
3/18/2011 10:11:42 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri, March 18: The whistle blowing web site , wikileaks has spared none. It has come out with stunning disclosures against the security agencies, the Prime Minister, MPs and the separatists.
The wikileaks, mentioning a cable sent by Geoffrey Pyatt, US Embassy deputy Chief of Mission in New Delhi to Washington in 2006, said that a Hurriyat leader of moderate faction told the consulate that his faction was “remaining as quite as possible because they do not feel strongly that Indian should pardon Afzal”, said Pyatt .
Though, Miwaiz Umer Frooq has strongly refuted the allegation saying that this was a
planned leakage to defame them in the masses .
This is not first time when the double standards of the Hurriyat leaders have come to surface in the recent past.
Few months back , the leaders of the same faction openly admitted that majority of leadership and intellect was killed by their own people (Militants) and not by Indian forces .
Former Chairman of the faction Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat had said that Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Loan were killed by local militants not Indian security forces .
Why did the Hurriyat leaders remain silent for 20 years? If they knew Afzal guru was involved in the Parliament attack why did they not state this publicly? .
How can gullible people trust the leaders who can go to te extent of playing politics over the graves of their fathers? Interestingly, both the Mirwaiz and Bilal Ghani Lone are still silent over the revelations made by their colleague. They neither refuted nor endorsed Bhat’s statement.
