Annual drama fest: Rajneesh Gupta’s play Mukhote staged | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 18 : Rajneesh Gupta’s critically acclaimed play ‘Mukhote’ marked day four of the annual drama festival 2011 at Abhinav Theatre here on Friday. Produced by ALFA, the play is a telling commentary on the issue of marital infertility and its possible fallouts. Directed by Rajesh Raina, the play revolves round the life of a writer, Naresh Ashwini, who is unable to consummate marital relations with his wife due to impotence. In order to avoid its detection by the society he forces his wife to sleep with one of his friends. How it all happens and what reactions does the wife give is what the play tries to tell. Packed with some powerful performances by the actors ‘Mukhote’ proves to be a good play as it highlights a socially known but tabooed subject. Staged by ALFA as part of Cultural Academy’s Drama Festival 2011, ‘Mukhote’ was able to attract audiences of all groups in sizeable numbers. The play had Rajesh Raina in the lead while other artists included Sapna Soni, Rupali, and Sunil Sharma. Set was designed by Naresh and Narinder while Nidhi did costume work for the play. Interacting with media on the sidelines of the drama festival, senior drama instructor of Cultural Academy Sudhir Mahajan informed that there will be no play on Saturday though Sunday onwards the schedule will remain unchanged.
