| Inter-Bn competitions of Armed Police from March 22 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, March 18: Annual inter-battalion sports meet of Armed Police and Indian Reserve Police (IRP), organised by Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, shall take place from March 22 to March 26 at different venues here.
This was disclosed by Additional Director General of Armed Police, K Rajendra in a press conference held here this evening.
“The annual competition of Armed Police and IPR shall be declared open on March 22 at 5 pm at Gulshan Ground, here. About 1250 men and 200 women athletes drawn from 31 different battalions shall be taking part in this five-day mega event in 13 different disciplines,” he said.
In addition, the Armed Police shall be hosting three events of Badminton, Table Tennis and Lawn Tennis, exclusively for the Gazetted Officers, at GO’s Mess.
Last year, the overall championship trophy in men’s section was clinched by IRP 3rd battalion while IRP 15th battalion lifted the coveted trophy in women’s section.
“The best stuff out of these inter-battalion competitions shall be selected by the Armed Police for the five-day Inter-Zone Tournament slated to be held from April five at the same venue,” informed the ADGP.
The competition shall be held in the events of basketball, volleyball, tug-of-war, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, football, handball, kabaddi, swimming, hockey, shooting and athletics.
