| Anantnag farmers visited research orchard, nursery of SKUAST-J | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 19: 30 farmers from Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir alongwith the field functionaries of Department of Agriculture Production visited the research farm and fruit plant nursery of SKUAST-J at Udheywalla.
According to official handout, the farmers were taken to these two places for practical exposure to the cultural practices and farm operations for the establishment and maintenance of fruit plants in nurseries and orchards. Dr. Mahital Jamwal, Asstt. Professor and Incharge, Research Farm and Fruit Plant Nursery, SKUAST-J Udheywalla, interacted with the farmers and field functionaries and apprised them of various scientific approaches being adopted in the fruit science section of SKUAST-J.
Dr. Jamwal and Dr. Shivali Sharma, Research Associate also made aware the participants about latest introductions of different fruit plants and improved varieties in the Fruit Science Section made under the supervision of Dr. V.K. Wali, Prof. and Head (Fruit Science). Agriculture Extension Officers of Department of Agriculture Production from Anantnag district namely Showkat Hussain, Feroz Ahmed Shapoo and Jahangeer Ahmed Haji were accompanying the farmers.
