Testing times ahead for Coalition government
As Panchayat elections draw closer
3/19/2011 9:11:05 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Mar 19 :- With the Panchayat elections drawing nearer, the separatists have started a whispering campaign for motivating people to boycott the polls.
Reports suggest that the separatists and the militants may trigger violence by the end of this month to `sabotage’ the polling.
The reports further suggest that the separatists after having gained strength during last year’s summer agitation do not want to get embarrassed by participation of people in the polls. Pertinent to mention, the people participated in 2008 elections in large numbers after protesting transfer of land to Amarnathji Shrine Board for several months.
Electioneering is likely to start in early April. While participation of people will be a set back for separatist, it is the coalition government that will be put to real test. Poor participation, political circles believe, will shake the government.
