Chowmahla palace out of bounds for Manolya, Niloufer
7/29/2006 4:01:09 PM

EARLY TIMES DELHI BUREAU
NEW DELHI, JULY 29: Chowmahla palace? It is located in Hyderabad, capital city of Andhra Pradesh. Manolya? She is ex-wife of Hyderabad's former Nizam. Niloufer? She is Manolya's daughter.
A report just fed to EARLY TIMES Delhi Bureau says that Manolya Onur, the third divorced wife of Nizam Mukarram Jah, was made to realise how unwelcome she was in the royal palaces when she along with her daughter, Niloufer, tried to enter the famous Chowmahla palace in Hyderabad.
The security personnel at the palace prevented and turned them away when both women, accompanied by the media tried to go around the palace, which are open to the visitors. The security staff told them curtly that they were not welcome.
The report said that when Manolya tried to argue that the palace belongs to the father of Niloufer and she had every right to come there, the security personnel told her that they were not allowed to let them go inside.
Standing at the gate, Manolya told Niloufer about the days she spent with Mukarram Jah after their marriage. Niloufer as a child had also played in the courtyard of the palace but remembered nothing.
When the security insisted that she should leave the palace and go away, Manolya became tearful over the affront meted out to her and Niloufer. “I merely wanted to show the palace to her”, shewas quoted as saying before leaving the outer gates of the palace.
Though Manolya arrived in Hyderabad last week on a triumphant note happy over her legal victory in the divorce settlement case, there were signs of her increasing desperation, the report pointed out. Manolya, who is staying in a five star hotel in Hyderabad and had thrown a party for the prominent personalities to celebrate her win against her former husband, is now worried over the prospects of Nizam going in for appeal against the verdict of the lower court.
