Flower Arrangement, Collage competition held on fourth day

On the fourth day of the “Display Your Talent Contest” 2006-07, Flower Arrangement and Collage competitions were held at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu (JU). The Department of Students Welfare (DSW), JU, is organizing this competition. In the Flower Arrangement competition, Ridhima Mahajan and Sulbha Gupta both from Women College Parade secured first and second position respectively while Rishi Kumar from GGM College was adjudged as third. Whereas, in Collage competition Shiveta Pandita from Department of Zoology, JU was adjudged as the best followed by Ravinder Kour and Sakshi Sharma both from Women College Gandhi Nagar bagged second and third prize respectively.
Students arranged the fresh flowers of various colours beautifully and also captioned their arrangements. The competition was held under the topics ‘Serene Beauty’, ‘Hope for Humanity’, ‘Window to Heaven’, ‘Save and Love the Nature’, ‘Floral Fiesta’, ‘Soldiers in the Snow’, ‘It is a New Day and a Chance to Try Again’ and ‘Voyage’. Prof. Rajni Dhingra, R K Wali and Satish Koul were the adjudicators. The topics for the Collage competition were ‘A Dream’, ‘Morning Glory’, ‘Violence’ and ‘Festival’. S T S Batra, Mohd Amer Almansoor and Surpal Singh Salathia were among the adjudicators. The Cultural Secretaries from various departments of the University managed the events.
Earlier, Chief Guest, Prof. Davinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs in his address emphasized upon the need to groom and provide platform to the budding artists for exhibiting talent. He also lauded the efforts of the DSW for organizing such events.
