NSF protests “traffic chaos” on Jammu roads | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 19: National Secular Forum activists today staged protest demonstration on Jammu University campus against the traffic problems in Jammu city. The activists led by District Chairman Surjit Choudhary took out procession against the Government for its failure to control traffic problem. “Even as we brought the traffic related problems to the notice of Government a number of times, no step has been initiated so far to ease the situation”, Choudhary regretted while addressing the protesters. He alleged that the officials concerning department at the helm of the affairs have failed to control traffic problems. NSF district Chairman urged upon the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene and take effective steps to solve the worsening traffic problems in Jammu City particularly on University Road. "The proposals regarding construction of flyovers at Jewel Chowk, Bikram Chowk and new circular roads have been lingering on since long", he said while appealing to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take steps for giving practical shape to these proposals. He demanded construction of four- way circular road from Bikram Chowk to High Court, Janipur and Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo to ease traffic rush. He asked the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Start the Metro rails in Jammu city and to the adjoining towns of the district. NSF leader also sought installation of traffic signal lights in the city and to ban the pressure horns and the practice of over- loading.
