| Shiv Sainiks protest against SP Kot Bhalwal, seek high level inquiry | | | JAMMU | NOV13 The activists of Shiv Sena today protested against the SP Kot Bhalwal Jail Abdul Rashid, who was awarded death sentence in a murder case in 1971 in Srinagar. The protest rally under the leadership of state president Ashok Gupta started from Rani park and passing through Purani Mandi, Link Road and Panjthirthi culminated at Rajbhawan, where the protesters presented a memorandum to the governor Lt. General SK Sinha demanding a high level probe into the matter. While speaking to the Early Times, Gupta alleged that Rashid was sentenced to death during in a murder case in which he had killed his friend by pressing the throat. He said that latter on his sentence was converted into life imprisonment by the state high court, but how such person with bad backtrack can hold an important position in highly sensitive jail like Kot Bhalwal. Indicating towards the recent criminal developments in the said jail in which matter of hawala money, Gang war between local and foreigner militants as well as mobile connectivity of jail inmates with the outside world through mobile phones had came into the light, he said that it is the handiwork of such persons who are having important positions in the jail administration despite criminal background. Gupta further alleged that government is manipulating the common masses and it has soft policy towards anti social and anti national elements. Gupta while submitting memorandum to the Governor stressed upon a high level inquiry into the matter and demanded for the immediate suspension of Abdul Rashid.
