| JKPCC VP holds meeting | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Udhampur, March 21: Vice President Pradesh Congress and Chairman Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangthan Yash Paul Khajuria today held a meeting of party workers at Udhampur, today. Speaking on the occasion Khajuria said that the long awaited decision of holding Panchayat Elections on non party basis for 4130 Surpanches and 29719 Panches in all the 22 districts of Jammu and Kashmir State has been announced through a notification form election authority for. He said that holding of Panchayat Elections on non party basis will have longer lasting effects in activating developmental process at grass root level. The persons who are not involved in political activities will come up with useful and need based shelf of projects and also execute the same with peoples participation to obtain quality output. Khajuria further said that present situation demands rightful thinking in every village and also added that we have to identify the most suitable, people friendly and development oriented persons for being elected as Surpanches and Panches. Khajrua said that the Wheat and Strawberry crops have badly affected due to hailstorm on 19th March, 2011 in Udhampur district. He urged upon the government to assess the loss and provide adequate compensation to the affected farmers. Among others who spoke in the meeting includes were District Chairman Panchayati Raj Ashok Bakshi, Surinder Advocate, Vijay Manhas, Om Prakash, Des Raj, Mushtaq Ahmed, Jaswant Singh, Ashok Gupta, Basant Kayalioo, Gulzar Singh and others.
