| World Arbour Day celebrated | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, March 21: The world Arbour Day was celebrated at SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Gole Gujral Jammu by Manorrnjan Kala Kendra and Department of Social Forestry.
The programme started with a introducing speech by T.S. Premi Secretary Manorranjan Kala Kendra who also welcomed the audience.
Sangeeta Dhar, teacher of the school who gave a detailed description on Global Warming and emphasized for planting more and more trees.
Dr. Rajinder Thapa Department of Pathgology, M.L. Shastri President Kala Kendra, SS Chib Range officer Social forestry Jammu and Sardar Jaswant Singh Range officer also attended the function.
Later on plantation drive was launched and about 100 plants were planted and distributed on this day.
Meanwhile, a function was also organized in the premises of the Government Higher Secondary School, Bhaderwah to celebrate and observe world Arbor Day which means plantation day.
In the morning hundreds of the students of the different institutions, NCC cadets and members of the civil society took out a procession under the supervision of DFO Bhaderwah Bashir Ahmed Shah and second commanding officer 2nd company NCC Fareed Ahmed Fani where they shouted pro forests slogans and anti deforestation slogans.
Speaking on the occasion DDC Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan said that from today the forest division Bhaderwah and district administration will plant 2 lakh pants in and around constituency and added that 700 plants were planted in whole district to observe Arbor day .
