Legislators raise issues of public importance in LA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MARCH 22- Several legislators today raised issues of public importance in the Legislative today. Mr. Zulafkar Ali demanded preponing of panchayat polls in Rajouri and Poonch districts in view of upward migration of majority of population, who he said can't exercise right to vote if the elections aren't preponed. Mr. Harshdev Singh wanted to know why transfers are effected in the administration despite enforcement of code of conduct. Er. Abdul Rashid called for releasing those detained under PSA. He said the report of Amnesty International in this regard should serve eye opener to the government. Mr. Ashwani Sharma, Mr. B. S. Mankotia and Mr. Jugal Kishore raised the issue of militancy affected families of Jammu division and demanded their proper rehabilitation. They called for taking steps to ensure education for their children besides other facilities. Mr. M. Y. Tarigami called for initiating corrective measures to better human rights record in the State. He urged the government to take immediate appropriate measures to safeguard human rights. He said Amnesty International; a globally reputed organization has come up with a report depicting gross human rights violations in the State. |
