EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MARCH 22- Several deputations from Bahu Fort, Nanak Nagar, Balmiki Colony, Gangyal, Chatha Mill, Chatha Farm, Gole Gujral, Old Satwari, Lower Gaddigarh, Bhour Camp and R. S. Pura met the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla seeking regularization of residential plots under Roshni Act. The Minister gave patient hearing to the deputationists and said thirteen colonies were regularized vide Government Order No. 88 of 2005 wherein regularization charges were charged from the unauthorized occupants in four installments by the Jammu Development Authority for providing basic amenities to them but not for conferring ownership rights as are being given under Roshni Scheme. Mr. Bhalla said the pending Roshni cases are being cleared by the concerned District Price Determination Committee after due verification of record and ascertaining the status of State land in accordance with the rules prescribed for the purpose. The Minister informed the deputationists that 16, 02, 148, 12 kanals of State land are occupied out of which 14, 44,360 applications are received from applicants adding that 1,18,132 applications are disposed off and 6, 42, 992 kanals of land on which ownership has been given to the claimants across the Jammu region. He said cost of the land has been assessed at Rs. 189.46 crore by the committee and the beneficiaries have been asked to deposit the amount adding that so far Rs. 20.70 crore have been received on this account. Similarly, 4, 22, 934, 80 kanals of State land is under occupation of the people in Kashmir region against which 3, 55, 221 applications have been received, the Minister said adding that 29, 620 applications are disposed off and the ownership of 32, 238 kanals of land has been given to the claimants. He said against the total assessed cost of Rs. 114.53 crore, the department has so far received Rs. 52.20 crore.
