Law School bags men’s badminton title | Inter-department sports meet of JU | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 22: Young shuttlers from Law School trounced seniors from Department of Computer Sciences (MCA) 2-1 to clinch men’s badminton title in the ongoing inter-department sports of University of Jammu (JU) on the campus, here today. In singles, Abhik Gupta defeated Sandeep while Nikhil lost to Abhinav. However, in the decider doubles game, the pair of Abhik Gupta and Nikhil outplayed the duo of Abhinav and Sandeep. Abhik was instrumental in Law School’s title win winning all the matches he played in the competition. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Law School beat Department of Physical Education 2-0. Results: Singles: Abhik Gupta bt Rakesh and Nikhil trounced Lovjeet. Similarly, MCA registered a 2-1 win over Department of Law. Results: Abhinav lost to Lokesh; Sandeep bt Varinder. Doubles: Abhinav and Sandeep beat Lokesh and Varinder.
Business School wins women’s final
Meanwhile, in women’s badminton tournament, The Business School defeated Department of Psychology 2-1 to lift women’s trophy today. In the final, Ritu Singh beat Anjali while Manpreet lost to Veinka. However, in doubles, Veinka and Anjali registered straight sets win over Ritu and Manpreet. In the semi-finals, played today, Business School got walkover Department of Urdu. In other semi-final, Department of Psychology beat SHTM 2-1. The Results: Ritu Singh bt Richa; Manpreet lost to Nikita. Doubles: Ritu and Manpreet beat the opponent rather easily.
Economics, Law in final of Chess
In the ongoing inter-department chess tournament, Department of Economics and Department of Law today reached the final and shall now face each other in the title clash tomorrow. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Economics beat Department of Computer Sciences (MCA) and Law trounced Department of Statistics. Anil Sharma officiated today’s matches.
