| Inter-block sports meet of Kathua begins | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, March 22: Inter-block sports meet, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) under Centrally sponsored scheme of PYKKA, got underway at sports stadium Hiranagar, here today.
In the first phase, competition in the discipline of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Vollyball and Hockey for under-16 year boys and girls started today. In the second phase, events in girls section shall be held from March 25.
Earlier, the meet was declared open by Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Hiranagar, Rakesh Brumi. He was accompanied by Vijay Pathak (Lecturer).
The competitions are being held under the overall supervision of Sat Paul Khajuria (ZPEO). Prominent among others present were Ram Krishan, Kewal Sharma, Joginder Paul, Kalish Chander Joginder Khajuria, Dharminder Singh Shelly, Vijay Kumar, Avinesh Sharma and Ashok Kumar.
Today’s matches were officiated by Mohinder Sharma, Sanjay Salada, parveen Singh, Ashok, Vijay and Kalash.
The Detailed Results:
Kabaddi: Billawar block beat Malhar block by six pts. Vollyball: Basohli block beat Malhar block in straight sets of 25-12, 25-18; Hiranagar beat Billawar again in straight sets. Kho-Kho: Mareen block beat Basohli block by two pts; Billawar beat Malhar block by nine pts.
