| Geology, Political Sciences advance in cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, March 22: Department of Geology and Department of Political Sciences won their respective matches to move into the next round of ongoing inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu (JU), here today.
In the first match of the day, Geology Department defeated Department of Commerce by a big margin of 77 runs. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Geology set a target of 190 runs for the loss of five wickets in allotted 20 overs. Pranpal and Arjun were main scorers with 43 and 33 runs respectively. From Commerce Department, Gafoor, Varinder and Manohar shared one wicket each.
Batting second, Commerce Department bowled out for 112 runs in 16.4 overs. Manohar and Bharat were top scorers with 29 and 21 runs respectively. From Geology Department, Ashwani claimed four wickets while Arjun, Atish and Liyakat shared two wickets each.
In the second match of the day, Department of Political Sciences registered a 20 runs win over Department of Sociology.
Today’s matches were officiated by JD Singh, Rajeev Sharma, Vijay Dogra and Raj Kumar.
