3/22/2011 9:52:41 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu , March 22
All India Trade Union Congress Council, J&K, general secretary S.K. Sharma today highlighted the problems faced by the working class of J&K especially Distt. Kishtwar. Doda and Ramban.
Sharma said that districts like Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban are lagging behind in almost every sphere of life and also having negligible representation in government services, rampant unemployment inspite of having a huge source of employment but the Govt's attitude towards eradicating unemployment seems indifferent. River Chenab posseses an enormous potential that can be used for development of the area and employment generation.
Sharma however appreciated steps taken by the State and Central Govts in the formulation of Chenab Valley II L Power Corporation under which projects namely Pakkal Dul H E Project having a capacity of 1000 MW Kiru Project 600 MW and Kwar project of 520 MW are being constructed through Joint Venture (PDe & NHPC).
He also demanded the speedy work on another Mega project namely Bursar HE Project having a potential of 1020 MW and Karthai HE Project having a potential of 240 MW which was sanctioned during 2000 on BOOT agreement.
The necessary clarification from Forest Deparment and other related issues need to be cleared at an earliest.
Expressing concern over the growing local educated unemployed youths, he said that locals were ignored from getting employment in these projects. The local unemployed youth run from pillar to post for employment in the projects viz. Baghlihar project, Stage - II allotted to J P Company but JP Company simply ignored them.
It is also pertinent to mention here that in the opening session of parliament during 2/2011, Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced to give one lakh jobs to the Kashmiri youths, he also demanded for a similar kind of package for Jammu region also.
He also demanded implementation of Employees provident fund Act 19')2 of Central Govt in J&K instead of provident fund Act of J&K in true spirit.
Meanwhile, Sharma hailed the regularization of contractual employees working in different departments.
The State Council of AITUC J&K is going to hold a two day conference. The trade unionists from all corners of the state will be the part of the conference which is being presided by Com.
