CID Counter Intelligence today picked up two more employees from Kot Bhalwal jail while more arrests including of some senior officers are likely to be taken into custody for questioning in the much publicized mobile phone controversy in the high security Jail where some foreign militants involved in heinous crime are lodged.
According to reports CID today picked up Head Warden Tara Mani and Warden Ghulam Nabi Sheikh for questioning in the mobile case that rocked the Kot Bhalwal Jail.
In the meantime the Jail Superintendent Sheikh Rashid today posted Krishan Lal, Ashwani Kumar and Prakash Chand against those picked up by the CID.
The preliminary investigations of the arrested officials revealed involvement of some high ups in the scandal and are likely to be picked up for questioning, the sources added.
The CID is investigation the causes leading to the entry of cell phones in the jail and some vital clues are expected after thorough investigation of the arrested officials. Several questions are being raised about the functioning of the Head Warden and his Assistant whose main duty is to keep a vigil on the activities of the detenues and reports suggest their connivance in the racket.
The Superintendent immediately after taking over the charge located some mobile phones being used by the detenues who had to face the wrath of the foreign mercenaries when he was taken hostage by them and on the intervention of the local militants lodged in the same jail, he the (Jail Superintendent) was rescued and one of the local detenue even sustained injuries on his nose while rescuing the Jail Superintendent.
The Police have already registered a case against Zaffar Jamali under whose possession the Jail Superintendent had recovered the cell phone, which was being used by the detenue within the jail premises for subversive activities. He is also involved in taking the Jail Superintendent hostage. Ghrota Police arrested him up when he was returning from Poonch after attending the Court in some militancy related case. The reports said that the accused detenue has been shifted to some unknown place for interrogation. He has booked under section 353 and 323 RPC.
It may be recalled that the slethus of Counter Intelligence Department of State Police during a surprise raid in the Kot Bhalwal jail had picked up four Assistant Superintendents and a Pakistani militant on charges of their involvement in smuggling mobile phones inside the Jail .
Following sensational revelations made by the murderer Gurmeet Singh during the course of interrogation with CID’s on going investigation in the use of mobiles phones by the militants from inside the jails the Jail officials have been picked up for questioning.
The Police claim that the entry of mobile phones inside the Jail is not possible without the active involvement of the jail authorities.
The reports said that the militants taken into custody on charges of possessing mobile phones in the hail has gone to three, which include Abdul Haiey of Pakistan and Raja Muzaffar of Uri apart from Zaffar Jamali, a foreign mercenary. Two murderers Gurmeet Singh and Sanjeev Kumar Samyal have also been apprehended. Some more arrests in the case are expected
