| KPs for settlement at a concentrated place in Valley, take up issue with interlocutors | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 22: The interlocutors have assured the Kashmiri Pandits that they will take up their problems with the Union Government and Prime Minister. This was informed by senior journalist Dilip Padgoankar, senior journalist who heads the three member team of Central interlocutors on Kashmir to a KP delegation that called on him in Union Capital few days back. The KP delegation which called on interlocutors included president Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) president Kundan Kashmiri, president Kashmir Samiti Delhi (KSD), Rakesh Koul and general secretary, All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) Dr Ramesh Raina highlighted various problems of the displaced pundits before the interlocutors. The delegation while cautioning them against the recommendation of restoration of pre-1953 position said that such a step will be inimical to national interests, said Mr Kashmiri. He however said Mr Padgoankar informed the KP delegation that there was no proposal before the interlocutors for making recommendation regarding restoration of pre-1953 position for the state. He also refuted the reports that they have submitted the final report to Union Home Ministry saying on their every visit they submit an interim report to Government while the final recommendations are still awaited, said Mr Kashmiri while quoting Dilip Padgoankar. He said the delegation also demanded the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits at a consolidated place in the valley to ensure their honourable and dignified return to Valley. ``The return of microscopic Pandits is not possible to their original places and clusters in view of the prevailing law and order situation in Kashmir.’’ However the community is willing to return if rehabilitated at a single place in Kashmir, he added. Kashmiri said besides the delegation demanded representation to the community in Legislature and Parliament as well as other governing bodies. The issue of Kashmiri Pandits shrines and religious places was also raised with the interlocutors and it was stressed that the bill pending with State Government be passed immediately to protect the Hindus shrines in religious places in the Valley. The delegation while apprising the interlocutors about the dilapidated condition of Hindu shrines and religious places in Kashmir said that the land of various shrines has been encroached by unscurupulus elements in Valley. ~We also informed the delegation aout the distress sale of KP property and demanded that the law passed in this regard be enforced in letter and spirit.’’, he added. Maintaining that KPs have suffered a lot over the years the delegation said that their settlement at one place will be a viable solution to their problems. Justyfying the demand Kashmiri said that interlocutors were told that already Sikh, Shia and Gujjar minorities are residing in concentrated places in Kashmir and if on the same pattern the Kashmiri Pandits are also settled in Valley it should have no problem with government, he added.
