6-day national painters, sculptors workshop inaugurated

Jammu, Mar 23: In order to cultivate talent in the field of art among the youth of the State, Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization has been organizing various programmes under its Civic Action Programme. As a part of this campaign, the Organization is conducting a 6-day Painter/Sculptors Camp-cum-Workshop at Police Auditorium here from today in which 11 artists of national fame are participating.
After inaugurating the Camp, the Director General of Police (DGP), HakKuldeep Khoda said that such workshops are aimed at providing an opportunity to the youth of the State to witness the performance of artists of national fame and utilize their bubbling energies for their betterment. The artists of national repute who are participating in the 6-day long camp include HakSiva Panigrahi, HakD. N. Rao, HakRavindra Salve, Mrs. Savitri Salve, Mrs. Manju Karmakar, HakTapandass, HakKishore Ray, HakJagpal Singh, HakPrashanta Bariki, HakManesh Jena and the Coordinator of the Camp, HakK. K. Gandhi from Jammu. This camp will motivate our youth to come forward and excel in the field of art. He said the Organization has been focussing to provide national platform to the budding artists of the State in this field. He stressed upon the youth to come forward and exhibit their talent and added that the department will provide all possible assistance to pave the way for their entry in such programmes. He said the department will also organize such events in Srinagar and other parts of the State in future in a phased manner.
Emphasising that the youth of the State are highly talented and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, realizing its social responsibility has been attempting to boost the talent of these youth in different fields of activity, apart from its professional duties the department has been focussing on promoting activities in different fields like sports, art and culture. This endeavour has yielded good results and the public has also appreciated the organisation for conducting such programmes, he added.
